Bring it back to the building

Although assemblies and events are always more fun in person, livestreaming events for students and parents who might not be able to attend is a great alternative. Many schools already livestream graduation ceremonies for out-of-town relatives, but this could also be extended to include school plays, concerts, sports events, and even classroom presentations.

Hosting them on a website (like Google Sites) could also provide the opportunity for parents to leave comments, make donations, or get additional information on school programs.

You may also consider holding an “Earth day,” “Read-a-Thon,” “field day,” “game day,” “world cultures day,” “math in the real world day,” or any other number of content-related themed days at the school building using virtual choice boards and even livestreaming the introduction to individual classrooms to save the time and effort of moving the entire school to the gym.
